ROOSEVELTE ON THE ISSUE OF SOCIAL JUSTICE

Addressing Social Justice Issues:

As your State Representative, I am committed to addressing social justice issues, including racial inequality and criminal justice reform. It is crucial to continue the conversation around how mishandling the needs of our people, particularly in areas such as mental health, substance abuse, and lack of economic opportunity, has a detrimental impact on our workforce and the overall viability of our great state. By tackling these challenges head-on, we can create a more economically sound and diverse Arkansas, positioning us as a national player in industries such as cannabis, healthcare, and technology.

Investing in Education for Inmates:

Arkansas currently has the highest number of inmates per capita among all 50 states. I believe that a significant portion of these individuals represent a captive audience for education, specifically through trades and certificate programs. Research efforts across the nation have demonstrated the positive impact that training and education can have on the economy. As your representative, I will advocate for greater funding for education and trades, collaborating with our colleges and non-profit partners to provide opportunities for inmates to gain valuable skills and knowledge. By investing in education and preparing inmates for productive reentry into society, we can reduce recidivism and create a more equitable and prosperous Arkansas.

Empowering Prevention and Reintegration:

To address the full spectrum of criminal justice, we must focus on prevention and reintegration. By allocating more funding for education and trades, we can not only prevent individuals from entering the cycle of incarceration but also ensure that those who have served their time are equipped with the tools they need for a successful return to society. Collaborating with colleges and non-profit organizations, we can create pathways for skill development, offering a second chance and promoting productive acclimation upon release.

Join our campaign today and let's work together to promote social justice, dismantle systemic inequalities, and create an Arkansas where everyone has equal opportunities for success and a brighter future. Together, we can build a more just and inclusive society for all.
